First do no harm
The work of diversity education is alway complex and sometimes difficult, but it should always be a rewarding experience
for all participants. This is why we take great care to create a climate of absolute respect for the persons, views
and experiences of all participants. Increased knowledge and wisdom about diversity issues is most effectively acquired in
the context of community, so we utilize powerful tools to create "learning communities" among the people that we
work with. In this positive and non-threatening environment new insights, new possibilities and increased
mutual understanding naturally occur.
Trust their experience
We begin with the lived experience of the people with whom we work, entering the world's of the people
who attend our trainings and inviting them into a process of critical reflection on their assumptions and presuppositions.. We
combine informational presentations, experiential exercises, video presentations and facilitated group dialogues
to provide our clients with the best training possible.
Seek additional help as needed
The Center maintains collegial partnerships with a network of nationally recognized diversity educators, trainers,
writers, and consultants. The broad body of knowledge, skills and backgrounds comprising our collegial
network allows us to effectively serve a wide range of individuals, groups, and organizations. "In living color"
these work relationships are a living demonstration of our values and beliefs about how people from diverse ethnicities,
genders, religions, sexual orientations, ages, and social class backgrounds can work together to achieve personal
growth, high performance work relationships and organizational change.
